  2. I'm not sure what to think of my families past because i didn't get the chance to know that much about them. I feel kind of left out because i don't realy know much about my family or who they really are besides my grandparents and my parents & certain uncles and few of the many cousins that I have. I would feel better if I knew more about where i came from and who my family really is, but I guess I may never know because nobody really talks about that stuff.

  4. AFter getting the chance to look into my families past i believe that theres alot that i dont know about. I never really knew any of my family was from down south, deep down south. I met some of my great grands but i dont know them persoanally. It feels weird that everybody pretty much knows me from when i was a baby, but i dont know them from a can of paint. I would love to get the chance to connect with long distant family before i go off to college you never know who you could run into, that could be family.

  5. I think it gives us a chance to actually find out where we came from and what our family has been through. After looking into our past we can see how the lives of our family has changed over time and what they had to sacrifice to get where we are now. I mean times change and so does the world; so life also changes as the generations live on. People have to give up many things and change how things are that way the next generation of their families can have a better life.

  6. NOw that I had the oppportuntity to look into my families past I am very surprised. My grandmother had always told me that I was black, indian, hispanic and creo but i never knew what creo actually was. Now that I did our families geneology i know that creo's are people who are mixed with a variety of ethnicities and come from the Louisianna region. It feels good to know where I am from. Most people never even met their grandparents let alone know where their from and their parents. I am glad to find out what i was, and also where my family has originated from.

  7. Overall, I didn't realize just how many people comprise a family and how fast it expands. Having to make a family tree gave me the chance to learn about individuals that I never had the chance of meeting. It was sort of neat in a way, though at times a little confusing. I also thought that as the people got older the names got weirder. Some of the names didn't even sound like they matched the sex of the person. Guess it just shows that things are always going to continue to change.

  8. i really wasnt able to look back into my family. the person thats in charge of my moms side of the family history was in the hospital. if i could have gotten the documents from him i could have traced my family back into the 1700s. but for my dads side i couldnt get anything from him because i dont talk to my dad. i never really met or even knew his side of the family. but i wish i did because i have irish family members like my great great grandfather. if this had gone a different way and i was able to get my family history i would feel stronger towards this assignment

  9. I think that now with a view into my families past has opened my eyes into what I came from and even helped me understand my background and what makes me, me. I think that it is really interesting how my parents met even though they were both on different sides of the country. My dad was born on the southern part of the country in Swainsboro, Georgia, while my mom was born in the northern part of the country in Pittsburgh, Pennsylvania. However, my parents first met in Philadelphia. I'm curious of how my father got all the way to Philadelphia from the country part of Georgia.

  10. Since I had a chance to look in my families past I have learned some new thins about my family that I have not known before. Although I did not asked them when I was doing the family tree however, I did ask after that. I have learned that my great grandfather was in the Vietnam War and served his country well. I'm interested in my family's past and is willing to learn more.

  11. I really surprised when i look into my family past and how many people that I'm related to. i found out stuff that I never really noticed. I didn't know that i'm partial Italian...It also raised some questions in my mind about how can people have so much kids back in the days. I think look into your family past is something important and great to do, it expand my knowledge and learn something new about your family.

  12. After taking a look at my families past I’m not that shocked to see how many of us it is, or how we live apart. I have family all over the place but most of my family stayed where they were born. I know in the past 100 years thing has changed a lot but I was shocked that my grandma lived on a farm. I thought she grew up in a city when stuff was first invited or upgraded but she didn’t. That explains a lot of how my family is and why they work so hard when it comes to work and labor. I’m actually kind of glad they did because they have a different experience in growing up in life and I can learn from that. So i think that its a normal family past.

  13. I think looking up my family history was interesting even though I do not know everything about it. I love learning about it because I have a colorful background of black, white, and indian. When I visit my abuelita I always look at the photobook and she tells me different stories about my different family members. It is important for me to know about my past because it makes me who I am.

  14. Now that I looked at my genealogy, I want to find more about them. I want to know if I have any of their features or act like any of them. I would love to know what they look like and where they came from. I would also like what they did in life, where they educated or where they sharecroppers. I think I know what my grandparents did in life, but I don't know about my greatgrandparents or if they lived long. I wish I could learn more about them and I will try to keep the genealogy going for my children

  15. Looking back at my family tree, it lets me know some of the people that i never knew or never got the oppurtunity to meet. I never would have asked about my family tree if i was not in this class, but i view it as a learning experience. While talking to my uncle, he gave me a brief history of some of my reletives. He let me know who in the family was slaves and and when they were freed from slavery and some of their accomplishments. I was able to have a view of my family that i never knew before, and it gave me an idea of the types of struggles the i never knew before.
