Three things that I had not known about Martin Luther King Jr. was that he had been stabbed by a negro woman, was thought to be a poor administrator, and that his home was bombed during one of the bus boycotts. I would have been pretty upset had someone stabbed me, especially one of the people that I was working so hard to help. I was also a little surprised by the fact that he was viewed as a poor administrator. Someone in a leadership position such as his would be sort of expected to have certain attributes. Lastly, I was not aware that his home had been bombed while his wife and kids were there. Despite his family being alright, I am surprised that he did not just lose it then.
ReplyDeletein section entitled moderates called obstacles he talks about white people such as the klu klux klan that preffer a negative peace and to ignorant to the fact that we are all equal. this letter demonstrated that his following was deeply devoted. he says "In spite of the darkness of this hour, we must not despair. We must not lose faith in our white brothers". this quote show that Dr. Martin Luther King would never loose his faith after the murder of four young black girls by white men he still was willing to make peace. I was unaware that his house was bombed during the boycott, it was a good thing that his wife and children were not injuried but no one wants to be put in that cituation becasue the next time they might not be so fortunate. the ombing showed that perople are reckless and there are were no limitations to ignorance and hatred.
ReplyDeleteThere isn't a whole lot that people don't know about Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr.; however, I didn't know about his compaign for poor people that he was organizing just before his death. I didn't know that he was going to gather a congregate of poor people to go down to Congress and force them to do something to help poor African Americans. I also didn't know that Dr. King was stabbed by a deranged woman. A black woman ran up to Dr. King and attacked him. I would have never guessed that Dr. King would have to fear people of his own color for they would have attacked when he was trying to give them their rights. I never knew that Dr. King was only 5 feet and 8 inches tall. When you learn so much of what Dr. King did, it is very hard to know how he was physically because it's like his physical information isn't really necessary for people to know. Dr. King should be most known for all the great things that he accomplished.
ReplyDeleteThree events that occurred in Dr. King's life that i was not aware of were that he had a campaign titled "Poor People's Campaign" and it was an attempt to make Congress help the poor. I also didn't know that Negro extremists criticized Dr. King for being against violence and they called him Uncle Tom. Finally, i didn't know that he was the third member of his race to receive the Nobel Piece Prize.
ReplyDeleteFrom what I have read, Dr. King seems like a pretty stand up guy. His fight to lead a nonviolence protest is outstanding. Though he may not have succeeded fully with the nonviolent part he did pretty darn well. There are many things I don’t know about this outstanding man because I wasn’t around during his time. One thing I didn’t know was the fact that he was stabbed but one of his own kind. Of all people the stab him it was a black woman. What happen to getting rid of black on black crime? Also, I did not know that as a young man he graduated high school at the age of 16. He must have been a very smart young scholar. Last, I was not aware that he his was bombed during a boycott. I just thought that someone had set his house on fire, I didn’t know it was bombed.
ReplyDeleteOver the years I have learned many things about MLK. After reading this article there are many events that i wasnt aware of. Like for instance MLK was struck, kicked, and stabbed by a negro woman. Also there was a meeting in Gadsen, Ala in 1963, about racism in the world. The third event that i learned about was an organization that backed up MLK, by the name Southern Christian Leadership Confrence. MLK was a very known man for all his great deeds he did. I believe that everyone should learn about MLK and his legacy. I believe that some of us should work harder to keep his legacy going, and to make a change and keep change coming.
ReplyDeleteThere are several events that had occurred in Martin Luther King Jr's lifetime that I was not aware of. One of the events being, him being struck, kicked, and stabbed by an African American woman. This comes as a surprise to me because one would think that his people would support him, not beat him for trying to make things better. Another event being the meeting in Gadsen, Alabama in 1963; this particular meeting stuck out to me because I really only knew of the big events where he spoke, where this was a small event where he spoke to the poor people of Alabama. Also the fact that he had an organization backing him stuck out. This was unusual to have an African American with this. The org. was Southern Christian Leadership Conference, otherwise known as SLICK.
ReplyDeleteThere was many things I did not know about Dr. Martin Luther King. One thing is that his home was bombed, he was stabbed by a woman but an African American woman. I would never thought a woman of his same ethnicity would try to harm him in any way. That really shocked me, I wonder what the reason was for that lady to feel the need to hurt Dr. Martin Luther King. The last thing I did not know was that he was a co-pastor along with his father. That is interesting because to be honest, I do not even remember what Dr. Martin Luther King occupation was. I have always thought he was someone that lead the world to a better place (which he did) but I never recalled his occupation.
ReplyDeletethree events that i did not know about was the he was stabbed by a black woman. i wonder why he had gotten stabbed. think it was because many people did not agree with his doings. they didnt want to become equal. they thought it wasnt right for different races to become one happy group. even though i knew that MLK wasnt treated like any other person he did make a difference. between his bombing of the house, him getting thrown in jail, and leading unwanted marches; he stood his ground and made it through. after he got shot it really set into peoples minds to become equal. even today many peoples minds are still set to not accept the other races but to others they let MLKs dream come true.
ReplyDeleteDr.Martin Luther King Jr was a great man with great personality with great determination to demolish racism and get civil right for each individual in America. I could only imagine how hard it is to deal with all the violence and fighting during the process. He brave enough to put his own and his family in danger just to bring justice and civil right to America and I admired that. One thing i didn't know was despite the fact that all those violent, drama and all keep him busy but he still have time to find a voice to speak against the senseless killing and fighting in Vietnam and try to maintain peace in Southeast Asia. Another thing that shocked me the most was he got stab, almost fatality by a Negro woman. I would thought he get full support from his own people but i was wrong. Why can't everyone in the world be like Dr.king? a world with his personality, it would be no war, no violent or hunger, a world of harmony.
ReplyDeleteThree things that I didn't know about Martin Luther King Jr; was that His home was bombed durring one of the boycotts, that he almost died because he was stabbed by a black woman, and that as a child his name was Michael Luther King. For Martin Luther King Jr. I would have thought that it would not be out of the normal for his home to be bombed; but I didn't think that it would happen while his family was home. As for him being stabbed by a black woman who he was trying to help, I must say that I am deeply saddened because it could have been a fatal stabbing and would have lost him earlier than we did!
ReplyDeleteI knew that there Dr. Martin Luthin King was looked at as an enemy by a lot of people and that there was a lot of attempts to have him killed but I never knew about a few of attempts to have him killed. I did not know that an African American female stabbed him , almost fatally, in an attempt to kill him. I did not think that his own people would try to kill him, especially when Dr. King was trying to make a change of them. Another attempted murder that I did not know about was the bombing of his home. I do not think that this should surprise me because people will go to extreme lengths to kill some one powerful or some one who poses as a threat. Another thing that I did not know that his original name was Michael Luther King, p until the point when his father changer both his and his own name.
ReplyDeleteOne shocking event that happen in the life of Dr. King that I did not know about is that he got stabbed by a Negro woman. It is so shocking because you wouldn't expect that another person of his own kind would stab their own "ally" nearly to death. Another event that is new to me is that fact he was born Michael Luther King after a Protestant reformer. I think this is a fact that many people do not know. I also wasn't aware that he was punched and kicked by a white man for registering in a hotel in Selma. The white man was probably upset because he was black (of course). Martin Luther King had haters all his life.
